Why support monasteries?A monastic owns nothing, earns nothing, and dedicates their life to serving other people.

For a thousand years this tradition has been kept alive by families who understood that peace and prosperity are rooted in wisdom.

And wisdom survives only if people choose to sustain it.

That chain of patronage held for generations. But it has never been thinner than it is now.

When a monk studies and practices on your support, the merit of that practice is dedicated back to you and your family. This exchange is older than any of us. It can continue with you.

$2 a day. Food and shelter for one monk.

$1 a day covers his meals. $2 covers meals and shelter. You can sustain one monk entirely for $60 a month.

Rise of the Geshe-Ma.

In December 2016, the first Tibetan nuns in history earned the Geshema degree, the highest scholarly rank in Tibetan Buddhism. The path takes decades of disciplined study, and until that winter it had been closed to women.

Funding is still scarce. We cover housing, healthcare, study, and exam costs, removing the barriers that keep these women from finishing their training. Beyond the nunneries, we support practitioners worldwide, especially Western monastics without an established institution behind them, where modest funding can sustain a whole life of practice.

A home for Gyalrong College.

Sera is one of the three great monastic universities of the Gelugpa tradition. Founded in 1419 in Tibet, it now stands in Karnataka, India, and is home to more than 5,000 monks. An influx of new students has pushed Gyalrong College's housing far beyond what it can hold.

The new Gyalrong House will hold 65 rooms and support over 100 monks. Eleven apartments are already complete, built through collective generosity, and the rest wait on funding. A gift here is bricks, beds, and a place to study for monks who carry a lineage six centuries old.

Educating the next generation.

In rural Nepal, the Anandakuthi School takes children from underprivileged families and pairs academics with something rarer: well-being, mind science, and meditation, taught from the very first years.

Funding covers tuition, supplies, and technology. So far donors have paid for roughly twelve full school years, and hundreds of village children have been guided through their first Vipassana retreat.
