Ten apartments at Sera Mey: a foundation for study
The Maitri Project · September 13, 2026
Ten residential apartments at Sera Mey are complete. Built through collective generosity, they represent a lasting investment in housing for monks engaged in advanced study.
Space for a demanding education
Monastic scholarship depends on more than classrooms. Students also need a place to rest, prepare, and sustain the daily rhythm of study and practice. The completed apartments at Gyalrong House address this essential part of education.
This milestone belongs to a larger housing effort. Our program describes a new dormitory planned to hold 65 rooms and support more than 100 monks. Ten apartments are already complete; further construction remains. The completed work and the wider goal are distinct stages of the same commitment.
Help build the next stage
Read the Gyalrong House program update for the project’s current fundraising figures, or contribute to the remaining work. Each completed stage helps create the conditions in which a living educational tradition can continue.
