Diabetes care for nuns and monks in the Kathmandu Valley
The Maitri Project · September 13, 2026
Access to medicine is a practical need that can be difficult for monastic communities to fund. The Maitri Project has provided diabetes medication for monks and nuns in the Kathmandu Valley, helping address a gap in essential healthcare.
An achievement rooted in care
Our achievements section records medication assistance for monastics who would otherwise have gone without treatment. This work brings our mission into the daily lives of people whose health needs deserve attention alongside their education and practice.
Healthcare is part of Maitri’s wider commitment to sustaining monastic life. A donation toward medical needs supports people, not only institutions: nuns and monks who depend on their communities and supporters for practical help.
