Practical support for living traditions

The Maitri Project connects support with needs identified through its relationships with monastic communities. Its work spans housing, healthcare, food, education, emergency relief, and meditation retreat—practical conditions that allow people to continue studying and practicing.

Housing at Sera Mey

Ten apartments for the new Gyalrong House at Sera Mey are complete, with more remaining to be built. Maitri’s wider housing effort supports space for monastics engaged in long-term study and practice.

The completed apartments form part of an ongoing project. Maitri’s main program page presents the broader construction goal and the ways supporters can contribute to the remaining work.

Supporting monastics across Asia

Maitri has supported 2,500 monastics across Asia. Its programs respond to a range of needs, from food and healthcare to housing and education, through direct relationships with practitioners and institutions.

Support also extends to nuns pursuing the Geshema degree. Housing, healthcare, study, and examination costs are among the practical needs surrounding this demanding course of scholarship.
